Local Status : Resident (SMP Status 1)

Distribution and abundance : Widespread and common

Habitats : Woodland, scrub, hedgerows, gardens and heathland

Flight Period : Single-brooded; October to January

Larval foodplants : Various broad-leaved trees and shrubs

Final Catalogue : By no means a pest with us: quite uncommon, or overlooked. Since 1890 noted only sparingly in Bentley Woods; Ipswich (Ml); Needham Market in 1903 (Platten). 'A single specimen at Monks Soham on 23 Nov. 1934 (Mly). Rare at Gorleston (D).

Wingspan details : Forewing 18-25mm, Wingspan male 40-45mm, female wingless
