National Status : Common

Local Status : Resident (SMP Status 1)

Distribution and abundance : Widespread and common

Habitats : Gardens, heathland, fens, woodland, grassland and scrub

Flight Period : Single-brooded; late May to August. A reported occasional partial second brood September does not appear to occur in the county

Larval foodplants : Bracken, but also various herbaceous and woody plants

Morley's Final Catalogue : Wide spread, but not very common and usually found singly, with us. At light at Beccles in 1892, about Ipswich, Hemley and at Monks Soham; on sugar at Fritton, &c. Gorleston.

Wingspan details : Forewing 14-17mm, Wingspan 30-35mm
