From Ipswich on B1456 go under the Orwell Bridge, past the salt-marsh on the left and just as the road starts to rise there is a lay-by on the left. Privately-owned ancient woodland. The morning meeting is followed by a visit to a local pub for lunch followed by a visit to a second site in the afternoon.

	We are likely to be recording some distance from the meeting place so it will not be a good idea to be late.
	We will be taking cars beyond locked gates so it may be awkward to leave before the end of the meeting

Evening meetings normally start around about an hour before dusk and can carry on into the early hours of the morning.  There are no charges for attending and all those who are interested in recording moths are welcome. If anyone is interested in coming along then it is usually a good idea to contact me so we know to expect you, there are odd times when the programme is changed at short notice. It is normally possible to leave at any time during the meeting but for occasional meetings we will be driving some way into a locked site. If this is likely to cause a problem then it would be wise to contact me beforehand to check.

The grid reference listed is that of the meeting place and not necessarily where we shall be recording so it pays to be prompt or at least let us know if you are going to be late.

Safety guidelines

• Dress appropriately for an activity in the countryside. It may turn cold at night even in the height of summer. Stout footwear is recommended.
• A torch is recommended, making sure the batteries are fresh or charged
  
• No dogs are allowed (except guide dogs)
• Do not touch moth trapping equipment - generators, cabling, moth traps, bulbs or other electrical equipment. It is considered bad etiquette to open up and look at the contents of somebody else's trap without being invited to do so.
  
• Biting insects can be attracted to light so you may wish to use insect repellent
• Bring refreshments, as facilities for refreshments are most unlikely to be available
• A picnic chair for sitting on may be useful at some meetings
• Bring a rimmed hat or sunglasses to protect your eyes from the glare of the moth lights
